Welcome to the fan page of "probably" the most famous Radio HAM in the world!
DK5DR
A little information:
Mr. DK5DR is a top chap, well educated and also a blast to converse with on the air. His command of English the English language and superb dry humor is excellent! SWL's and HAM's alike around the world can learn a lot from his highly educated open and informative conversations on air. His knowledge of audio, antenna and high power systems are what could only be described as vast! He could almost be mistaken for hearing him say "Behringer is my name and twiddling is my game..."
His patience to listen, coach and help the newly qualified radio operators from around the world is unsurpassed! We think he is a very rich man indeed, after all he must live on a hugely expensive yacht per anchored at grid square JJ00aa! And running how much power? at that location and always a perfect 5 & 9 + 20db

"A Big Gun" on 40m but rag chewing no further than Wales GB

I heard old big head walter DK5DR ask a station what radio he was using on 40m last week.
ReplyDeleteThe fella told him a Yaesu mkv
Old big head did a 1KW yawn and said "whats a yaesu mkV" (quick laugh to himself) Then old big head gave the guy a lecture about his audio and how good his own kenwood ts870 sounded compared to all the other junk on the 40m band.
walter DK5DR was telling a guy a few months ago on 40m he was a truck driver and drove a big topline scania in his younger days when in actual fact walter was nothing more than a shopping trolley attendent at the local Aldi supermarket.Walter would often sit in a shopping trolley on his lunch break with his Alba 40ch handheld CB radio and tell everyone he was mobile.
Walter DK5DR is a top class pratt.
Oh dear. looks like Old Bob Clondike has thrown her dollies out of the pram. Her skipping rope has had too many knots tied in it by Dunstable Dave. Well done Dave. I wish I had screwed up his little girlie Poll.
ReplyDeleteJUST A BIT OF FUN. I dont think so. This sad little blog is just an insidious opportunity for anomalously sewing the seeds of racial hatred. SHAME ON YOU
I agree. What a heap of poop. May be Bob should change his name to Captain Ahab. Such a dedication to revenge seems a bit paranoid.
ReplyDeleteInciting hatred is a nasty pastime Bob. Grow up and get a life.
I wonder how much time this creep takes to type this very average child like humor.
ReplyDeleteGet a license and join the men on the radio deary
Bob's response to clever Dave's destruction of the poll shows him up for what he is.
ReplyDeleteThe blog is a deceitful way of inciting anti German hatred. He obviously cant take the "just a bit of fun" that he says the blog is all about.
Grow up Bob and get a girlfriend.
You guys are all missing the point. Walter is a self-opinionated know-it-all, who doesn't like people to have thei own views if he disagrees with them. Yet he is likeable in some ways. However he does have a nasty side - for example baiting an Italian Ham, whose English was poor, about Bellasconi. It was partonising. Walter is patronising - "if you don't know what patronising is look it up". Comments about racial hatred by you twerps say more about you than anything else.
ReplyDelete"The blog is a deceitful way of inciting anti German hatred." - Complete bollocks you rissole! If the Callsign was N5DK would that be hatred against Americans. Get you head out of your . . . . . .
ReplyDeleteMy personal HONEST opinion about DK5DR-Walter: Big talking, self-regarding, arrogant, Mr. Super-Important, Mr. Allknow, etc..Obviously full of inferiority-complexes.
ReplyDeleteThats the short form how Walter appears quite each day on HF. In my mind DK5DR-Walter is a extremly bad reputation for Germany hamradio.
Some Germans are more conservative than their emperor hundred years ago. By the way, I´m from Germany also, which doesnt make me proud.
But DK5DR-Walter in my mind even tops them all! What makes it more worse, Walter plays the schoolmaster in general on HF. And those pupils or students, who don´t obey his rules, will be mentally beaten with a ruler on their hands.
D (demeaning) K (know-it-all) 5 D (didactic) R (radio) thats for what DK5DR stands for in my honor opinion.
Especially for DK5DR-Walter: Telling my honest mind in public about you, are no physical elements of the offence for slander, defamation, etc..

i fully agree, i never heard a ham with so few hamspirit. just mokking and complaining, no ham is good he likes only DK5DR
DeleteWalter is allowed to reply to a "CQ DX" call from Sweden (700km) but he tells me - farther away (1500km) in the UK - that I MUST NOT. He is simply a pompous ass.
ReplyDeleteThis comment makes no sense whatsoever. "Allowed to reply to CQDX". What in God's name are you talking about? It sounds as if you've never made a ham contact in your life actually. At least not many or not for a long time.
DeleteI got to spend the whole day on the air today; that is a rarity. My QSO with Walter was more real fun in than any contact in the past several years that I can remember.

ReplyDeleteSchlimm...........
ReplyDeleteIt too silent in Getelo, could u pump it up a little?
ReplyDeleteA week later I am still upset.
ReplyDeleteI engaged Walter in a QSO and his first comment was that my signal was "poor"
OK, fine - I get it - compared to what? He said propagation conditions did not matter. When I switched to my dipole from my hexbeam he said he couldn't hear me at all. Well I guess that either my beam is "less poorer" than my dipole or maybe it has a little gain. Anyway he then accused me of being a "greenhorn". I told him that I had been a broadcast engineer for 40 years and a ham for 42. My comments about antenna height vs takeoff angle were dismissed. The entire time I was cordial and respectful to Walt - not so much the other way - peppered with derisive sarcastic laughter.
I recently also had the doubtful pleasure, Walter called me on 60 meters - an arrogant twaddler. Maybe bad sanity due to his higher ages ...
ReplyDeleteDeine signal on 18.111 war sehr gut in Renkenberge heute.
ReplyDeleteGrussen von der Renkenberger jedermanband funkers club
I today have had the benefit of patronising manner of Walter on 40m.
ReplyDeleteAmateur Radio must be done Walter's way or not at all.
Never forget, it's all about him. The world revolves around a little shack on the German/Dutch border.
DK5DR- YOU ARE A COCK SUCK- DONKEY DICK LICKER
ReplyDeleteYou are most assuredly not a ham radio operator.
DeleteWarum?
ReplyDeleteA lot of hams know and use such slang language. Perhaps it was meant as an insult in protest.
DeleteI am hamradio operator CT1DDW my name is Filip Ferreira, i did listen at 26th Setember Walter in 18.120MHz chating with a VA or W station that came lower, i was enjoying specialy when Walter say about is vast experience with amplifiers and vintage. I wait the QSO finish and i call, no answer except the overseas station but i tell im a will like to talk with Walter... silence, than Walter come and envites the other guy to talk with me what i did answer i would like talk with im. Answer " i dont want talk with a portuguese guy, these is a DX band and i dont talk with you!" Surprise, surprise - i reply with politeness i would like to talk with im about vintage equipment but if he dont well 73! I read the introduction of these eblog and i am sorry be compeled to not agree with your says and sentences. I am probably younger and poorer than you Walter but never in my life in Hamradio i said to anyone that i dont want talk with im, its a question of education and money cant buy that. You can enjoy yourself with your fancy things and sense of humour but you are not a gentleman.
ReplyDeleteJust had a contact with DK5DR today ,I found him to be arrogant ,pompous, self praising know it all.Who then asked me why I was only running 25 watts when I should be running my legally allowed 50 watts,he then said my audio was horrible and flat. The man should be allowed to say he is German as he does not promote Germans and Germany in a good light.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have news of M0SBZ? Not heard him for several months on 80 de Frank G3WMR
ReplyDeleteLol I have been a general since January and around 2330 central time USA had the pleasure to speaking DK5DR on the 17 meter band. Then he goes on to tell me my audio is terrible even though he was copying everything I said because he repeated to make sure. He asked me what kind of antenna I explained that I have horizontal loop bout 280ft long. He tells me that I should get a hex beam. This was my first time coming across an arrogant old man on the bands. First time I have been told to fix my sound and that I need more power. Yes I would love to have a beam and amplifier but I been a ham going on a year next month. I wish I was rich and could afford everything he said but he sure didn't offer to pay. Just judgemental and a know it all. I bet he lives alone as likely no one likes the asshole.
ReplyDeleteHahah funny page,
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree he is a complete fool.
DL1STI
Met him today. Shame on me for transmitting only 100W and a long wire on HF from USA to Europe. I got the lecture on 500W and a hex beam and that I could not carry on a sustained QSO with Europe, but somehow with mutual patience, we had at it for 15 min. While I agree that if my amp were operational and I were using a hex beam that may station would reach out better, this is what I had today.
ReplyDeleteHi Walter and Margareth would you like to become a member of honor to the Renkenberger Funkclub?
